Personal background
After spending a year working in East Asia, I decided to come back to the English-speaking world and earn better money. Glasgow seemed like an ideal location, given the city’s interesting reputation of being squalid yet cultured, but most importantly, a good laugh. As an Englishman, Scotland isn’t my home country but the culture is similar enough for me to feel like this was a return to home territory.

Justification for datasheet
This datasheet is intended to give an account of life in what I regard as one of the best cities in the UK for game.

My experience
In the first section I’ve provided pictures. Please note that they are not the actual women I slept with. They are intended to give you an idea of my rating system and the type of women you can meet in Glasgow. A question mark (‘?’) after the age signifies that I’m making an estimate.

I’d like to have had more nights out in Glasgow and more notches on the old bedpost but didn’t have as much time on my hands as I would usually do. Bring on next year, when I’ll have basically nothing tying me down.

Months 1-3

Months 4-6

In these months I was too busy to go out and enjoying an unofficial relationship with woman number 4, above… until the last month when she got too attached. I had two one night lays with three women who are borderline ‘neds’ (essentially ‘chavs’ or ‘white trash’).

Like I said, I didn’t always have the opportunity to go out with other responsibilities and a social life completely separate from game. Because of that, I sometimes go out saying that I’ll take home whoever I can, which meant that I settled for these two who I wouldn’t usually go for.

Still, getting with these women changed my attitude a bit because it was pretty good. I’m a lot more open to this sort of thing. Actually, the more I think about it, the more of a weird attraction I have to tacky girls.

Number 6. took literally hours to isolate which was weird because her and her mates were completely up for it. I went though what felt like an endless cycle of being able to get her on her own and put my hand under her jumper and then her mates finding us and cheering her on. I tried to turn this to my advantage my getting a threesome going on but that was a bit of a bridge too far.

9.Similar to 4. Met at Box. (Many times). Didn’t close her on the first night, but she turned into a sort of ‘friend with benefits’. Eventually she decided she wanted more and moved on. This was probably one of the coolest women I’ve met. She’s a professional photographer. We had a lot in common and great sex but I got a bit bored eventually.

10.Similar to 4. Met at Nice ‘n’ Sleazy (once). Closed her a couple of weeks later after staying in touch via text. One time she asked me if she could try deepthroating me. I’ll let you imagine what my answer was. Anyway, to cut a long story short, she ended up vomiting on my cock. I love the weird ones.

Male competition

There is less male competition here than anywhere else I’ve been in the UK. Most dudes dress like this:


Having said that, they are pretty confident. I’ll often make note of other people doing approaches and was frequently impressed by the audacity of local guys. As well as having a PUA wing (who is excellent but not on this forum), I went out with work colleagues a couple of times and they were fairly good naturals.

Guys will tend to back you pretty well if they see you approaching. I’ve never come across player haters here. Nor did I ever come across anyone getting pissed off for me hitting on ‘their women’, despite all my pickup mates in England telling me that would happen.

This was quite a relief for me given how much racism I came across in Korea when talking to women. Replacing that racism with xenophobia would maybe be moving in the right direction, but still not cool. Anyway, it wasn’t a problem.

Women

Basically, there are plenty of different types of women in Glasgow. I tended to mostly sleep with indie/hipster types (girls 2 and 4) and ‘neds’(5 and 6). I like indie/hipster women but if you’re looking for an easy lay, go for the ‘neds’.

They don’t have to be really cheap and tacky, but, to be honest, are often easily impressed by you approaching them with a couple of demonstrations of high value (DHVs). I found that one DHV was simply my accent.

Despite having a terrible reputation, ‘neds’ tend to be pretty cool about casual sex. One girl came back to mine completely sober, got it, and asked ‘are you going to go back out and pull again?’. I though she was joking. She wasn’t.

Putting a bit of extra effort into fashion helped me go for the more attractive indie and hipster types.

Oh, and I got another female wing. I had one once years ago and she reminded me how awesome they are. She’s a bisexual girl who mostly hits on women and helped me out in an incredibly wide range of ways. I’m often sceptical about people who talk as if the whole club is watching them the whole time, but being able to open set after set after talking to a female friend helps a lot.

Nightlife venues

Garage nightclub

This is definitely my favourite place in Glasgow. The beer is cheap, and so is finding sex. I was too busy with work to visit as often as I’d like.

If you come to Glasgow, this place on a Friday or Saturday is a must. About 40% of women here are ‘neds’. Generic people (inc. students) make up approx. 40%. I don’t really know how to categorise the remaining 20%, but there are some fairly interesting types, including goths and rocky types (my favourite).

Women in Garage are probably more sexually liberated than anywhere else I’ve been. One student wanked me off behind a staircase. It was brilliant.

Tip: If you’re solo and want to keep on your toes, browse around the middle floor. If you’re looking for easy openers, go to the smoking area / garden. I number closed four women on in about 20 minutes in that tiny gazebo.

O2 ABC

This is pretty similar to Garage, except it is much bigger and often cheaper. If Garage didn’t work out, I’d generally go here.

Tip: Go early for your stamp, otherwise you’ll be waiting outside for even longer than a regular big club.


Campus

My wing loved it here but I could take it or leave it. It’s basically like a slightly more expensive version of Oceana (chain superclub) past 11 but a pretty boring bar before that.

Tip: Don’t listen to the people telling you they can get you in for free. They’re even bigger liars than regular promoters.


Jumpin’ Jax

I hate this place. It’s perfect if you want to meet sexually frustrated MILFs, though. My PUA wing and I opened a MILF two-set for a laugh which went pretty well until their gigantic biker husbands stood behind us and said something incomprehensible in their harsh Glasgow accents.

I usually fancy myself as a bit of a hard bastard when I’m out but I felt like a little boy at the adult’s table and moved on to the next location, wasting a set I lined up earlier.

Tip: Don’t be as much of a pussy as me if you come here.


Buddha bar

I didn’t pull here but came close once or twice. These were the places where I met my wings and opened a few sets to meet later. This is one of the few places I see Glasgow’s huge Chinese community of Chinese students going out.

Tip: I don’t know for this one. Learn Chinese?


Varsity
Like its name implies, this was full of students, but mostly the more fashionable ones. Unfortunately this does mean that while some people look great, there’s also a lot of annoying pretentious idiots who just look stupid.

I only went here a couple of times but it would be alright as a place to bring a date.

Tip: Consider a pompadour hairstyle and dressing like the Fonz. I’m not joking.

NOTE: My description of Varsity also applies to Nice 'n' Sleazy, except that Nice 'n' Sleazy is slightly cooler, less pretentious and has a gig venue in the basement, which is pretty good.


Boteco
I wasn’t sure whether or not I should include this because I never did anything remotely gamey in here but it deserves at least an honorary mention for having great live music and cocktails. If you’re looking for a bar to bring a date on, this Brazilian bar should definitely be on your shortlist.

Tip: Come here if you can dance salsa.


Corinthians
This is one of a few large casinos in Glasgow. You don’t need to be into gambling to go here but I imagine showing off the size of your wad and lack of understanding of probability helps. (Sorry to anyone who does gamble, I’m only messing).

There’s a club with walls which are covered in padded cushions which make it look like an insane asylum cell and it’s about the same size as one, too. A friend of mine pulled there once but I reckon she was ancient.

Most of the crowd will be 27 or older.

Tip: Come here if you’re paranoid about having your head smashed against a wall by a jealous lover.


NOTE: Hip-hop clubs
Maybe I’m doing something wrong but I’ve always been disappointed by hip-hop nights in this city, it’s the one thing I couldn’t work out. Some do exist but they’ve so far been full of 18 y/o dudes who think they’re Eminem… if Slim Shady was doing a bachelor’s degree in The History of Art.



Glasgow-specific hints and tips

•Don’t bother with the West End (an arty, studenty bit) for picking up. You’ll find it difficult to find anywhere with people in the right mood and setting to be opened.

•Dress appropriately. This goes for wherever you are, but in Glasgow it’s particularly true because it has plenty of regular places with pop and dance music (wear whatever), rocky places (wear rocky clothes, obviously) and casinos (wear a suit).

•Don’t be afraid of asking people to repeat themselves. It’s taken me up to now to understand the locals properly because the English spoken here is very different to what I’m familiar with. Being the guy from an exotic land (even if that happens to be a council estate in North London like me) is incredibly attractive to most Glaswegians. Exotic is only one letter from erotic.

•With ‘ned’ women, go in early, they’ll appreciate it. I’ve never had a problem with confidence, but people here are more forward than anywhere else I’ve been in the UK. I’d usually wait a few minutes before squeezing the arse but dive in after about 60 seconds here. Of course, use good judgement, this doesn’t mean you can sexually assault people in Glasgow, but turn the volume up quicker than you might normally.

•If you are into fashion, you’ll do well here. I hate to say it, but Glasgow is well behind the South of England in terms of what’s cool and being bolder than the locals will help a lot. Note I’m talking about being fashionable, not wearing your furry Mystery hat and 1930s aviator goggles.


Summary

Although I’m English, I’ve not actually spent that much time visiting cities in the UK. Having said that, Glasgow is by a long way my favourite city in Blighty for picking up in. Maybe there are guys out there who’ve been to Manchester who would tell me it’s better than Glasgow and they might very well be right because I’m not able to make as many comparisons as I’d like to, but it doesn’t detract from what Glasgow has to offer.

Stay away from the West End and get yourself to one of the clubs I listed. You’ll be almost guaranteed to get a one night lay with a ‘ned’. If you’re after an indie or hipster girl, you might have to put a bit more work in but your chances here are still pretty high.

Oh, and I recently overheard part of a conversation between an American guy and a Scottish girl. It sounded like the guy was about to bring her home until he mentioned that he thought Scotland was in England. She laughed at him and walked off. Don’t make that mistake.
