This idea of merit is interesting and can spawn countless hours of debate, but IMO affirmative action regulation is needed. If all the previous clique were all white, why would they let a strange black guy in who made them squirm a little bit because he was out of their comfort zone even though he was smarter and more competent than all the other applicants. The same for women.

The question is when does affirmative action become too much? When do minority abuse it and how do we stop this abuse without fucking it up for the minorities who affirmative action REALLY REALLY helps?! And I don't have an answer for those...
