It has to do with being in an unfamiliar place and the trepidation that goes along with it. I would imagine it's similar when traveling within the US as well (>500 mi.). My friends down in Miami would go to the clubs and try to swoop tourist chicks. There's a bit of vulnerability, they are looking to let their cock out, and they will be gone within the week. Then it's on to the next round.
