If you think I'm being alarmist, you should recognize that this already is the status quo simply with existing porn tube sites and our current video game technology. Both act as escapist outlets for men, harmlessly channeling away their real world ambitions and aggressions. Now consider that at some point VR technology will be at least an order of magnitude more immersive than our current technologies and the threat becomes more clear. VR is essentially a technological super drug that can hijack a man's life and re-direct his focus and energies into things that don't actually exist.
VR will be very dangerous, perhaps it can go to the "inception" point when people will no longer know if they are in RL (real life) or in VR.
I see very good uses of it such army training, practice for doctors, learning to drive but, knowing mankind we will just spend our efforts on facebooking it.
Create a helmets that can send waves to your brain and you can feel stimuli from the VR and watch porn and video games sales soar and mankind decline.
