In countries like Thailand everyone is segregated at their own little table. They have VIP areas in some clubs but it's not that special. If you're just running around approaching all the girls at tables it does look weird and noticeable unless the place is packed. When you're with a group at a table it's not hard to invite girls walking through or beside you.
Getting your own solo table would be very weird and you would look like the saddest sack in the club. Especially if you're the one lone farang sitting with a bottle at his own table in the midst of a thai club.
In regular thai places i've never encountered bottle rats. Bottles of JW red or black are pretty cheap compared with the U.S. so there's no incentive to mooch.
