Years ago, I had two roommates - one from Peru and the other from Colombia. They both hung out with each other and exclusively with Peruvian and Colombian crowds. Although they had been here in the U.S. for 10+ years, they still had the authentic feel because of their deep accents and ability to cook absolute shit food in the kitchen and stink out the entire house. All that said, they were the worst group of women I've ever experienced. Complete money-grubbing, gold-digging whores. Can't say whether it was America that did it to them because I didn't know them before they got here, but I was so repulsed I had to move.
