Not for one second did these officers believe this guy was harboring said wanted felon, their egos were bruised that the guy dared to hold a cellphone (and *gasp*, not turn it off when they said so). So enraging was the idea of being held accountable for what they say/do during an exchange that they wasted two and a half minutes of antagonistic banter with this guy instead of searching for the guy who was supposedly a dangerous criminal.
