Maybe they see attractive girls the same way they see celebrities. Sure, they're attractive, but they're unobtainable so they give them no thought.
They see a 5-6, they can imagine themselves with those girls, they put thought into that idea of being with them and it becomes attractive in their idealized thoughts.
I'm sure though that some people genuinely don't care about looks.
