I think it's because most modern-day women are what Jung referred to as "animus-possessed". They side with the undeveloped masculine part of themselves, find it attractive and project it out onto the young boy. It's why the looks of Justin Bieber, Leo Dicaprio, and all the Boy-Wonders are so desired in the media. It's why women love bad-boys. It's why just about "every" woman who can, will buy a dog.
