Koh Phi Phi is pretty far south and I think its the same time frames. Once the weather warms up in Europe (May, June) those people go the coast of Europe instead of Thailand leaving you with essentially nobody. Go Dec- Jan 15th...
I can't attest to the east coast islands, but Koh Phi Phi was still pretty busy when I was there in June last year. Not impossible to get a room busy, but still at least a thousand or so people partying on the beach.
