If you're in a bodybuilding gym and doing 5 minute rests because you want to do your 1-rep max, okay, but if you're dicking around and going to the bathroom in the middle of an exercise then you relinquished the machine and probably shouldn't be in the gym in the first place. If you use a machine you stay next to it.
