I haven't been to NYC in a few years but I'm always suspicious of blanket statements like the OP. I understand if you lived there and you certainly have a frame of reference, but I'm curious, what was it like 10 years ago? Maybe what you're experiencing there applies to American urban cities in general?
I've had plenty of nights where I'm convinced that L.A. is a huge cock fest, and other nights, complete anomalies, where there is a glorious female heavy ratio.
