You missed the point. Of course all women are hypergamous liars. The men who came before us knew that and they warned us (e.g. the allegories in the Bible). Religion served for a long time to control humans' worst instincts. But the promise of eternal punishment after death no longer works.

What does work? Well, physical and psychological violence do work. Shaming and ostracizing cheaters also works. If all fails, public stoning would do the trick. It all boils down to two questions: a) what is the collective goal?, b) what cost is the collective willing to pay to attain the goal?

Even an emperor with a huge harem is in danger. Better keep his praetorian guard well-fed, well-paid, and with regular access to pussy. If not, the praetorian guard can easily kill the emperor and find a new, more generous one.

Why do men accept being used as pawns? Do not reward bad behavior. Do not marry left-overs. Once the pool of single cat ladies reaches critical mass, their younger sisters will start changing their habits and power will swing back to men. Of course, from a game-theoretic viewpoint, a bunch of sex-starved betas boycotting has-been hotties approaching the wall is not very likely. But no one is talking about boycotts. I am talking about getting what one wants, sex, without yielding anything to the enemy. Men these days are mostly fools, showing up at the battlefield without an armor or sword, oblivious to the fact that there is a war going on.
