I read the book a few years ago.
My thoughts were that, in an era where plain speaking was the norm, someone who was always friendly and a good listener would be appreciated.
Today however, with so much fake niceness floating around, I'd rather be known for plain speaking, which coincides with my nature.
Still worth reading- there is other wisdom and the book is full of colourful anecdotes, paints a picture of that era.
