I was in Sicily last week and wrote about it on other threads. Not impressed with the women at all,marginally better than Northern Italy but really more or less the same overall. English levels are also a huge problem. Eastern Europe is much much better for women.
Tourism and nature wise,especially the beaches I absolutely reccomend a visit. Its more under the radar so its good to get away from hordes of other tourists.
Northern Italians love to play up the differences between north and south italy but aside from economics and some cultural things Italy is really homogenized in the last 30-40 years.
There was an article on rok also hyping Malta but going through the comments I saw the girls arent too hot ,local ones anyways. Italian,Maltese,Spanish,Greek,Portugese all the same problems.
