If she is not willing to give you the respect you are willing to give her, then she's not worth it. It's a losing battle and it was consequently the very first lesson I learned when it comes to this stuff...you can always just walk away when your interests are not being served.
Ultimatums like that don't work. That aside, I had a similar experience.
My only real exclusive relationship I ended because she wasn't committed enough. I tell that to girls, and they'll be like, what?? In a chick's mind, only the man can't be committed enough.
Back then, I felt, if I'm going to commit myself to one woman, she has to make herself available to me. If she doesn't, the relationship isn't worth the exclusivity. This girl had a lot of other priorities - work, school, friends, etc. I didn't figure prominently enough among them for my liking, so I ended it.
I mentioned this on a gossip board at my school, and girls were aghast at my demands for a relationship. "OMG You're such a controlling asshole!! Are you from the 18th century??"
Nah. Why give up your right to mack other girls when you hardly get to bang your own? If you can't be her #1, don't make her your only one.
