It's just another pernicious myth. A woman does some dumpster diving and she backwards rationalizes it to an act of compassion instead of desperation. Hamstering at it's finest.
However, desperate men like this hear about it, and think being pitiful will somehow work, compounding their problems. I've been pretty damn pitiful at certain points of my life, never once have I gotten a pity fuck. I've just gotten outright revulsion. Getting stronger was the only thing that helped.
