As I also said earlier the best pay back here is ROK article.

While all these Yelp, Facebook and Twitter comments right now are funny and definitely causing them some stress they won't last. Next week or month they will be deleted or buried under 'new' reviews.

A ROK article will stay on top of Google and will funnel in a lot of people who is searching for this business. Hey whats the address of that business again? Google. Hey what time are they open till tonight? Google.

Disagree entirely on Yelp.

The place looks like it's only been open a year and has just 21 reviews. There are another 1,000 or so businesses listed just under "cafe" in Montreal.

There's very little chance that people are going to Google the exact name of anything other than the most prestigious of restaurants. What's more likely is they'll search "cafes in Montreal", "coffee shops in Montreal", etc. on Google or a site like Yelp.

These review sites are huge in this day and age even for the already established restaurants, but especially for places just getting off the ground.

Another 20 bad reviews that brings it down to say 3 or 3.5 stars could literally break that cafe. The majority of restaurants fail period. And even if it didn't, it would definitely put a dent in their business.

99% of the people who use Yelp to look for a cafe would never even see the ones rated that low.

They could still get walk-in traffic, but no one is building a business on walk-in traffic in such a huge and affluent city. The cafe would have to go overdrive in marketing ($$$) to outweigh their busted online reputation.

TripAdvisor.com is another one that I've known managers in restaurants I've worked at (nationally recognized in the US) to assign a lot of weight to. In fact, more than Yelp.

P.S. I agree that an ROK article would be good, I'm just clarifying that these reviews sites are important for businesses, especially one that only has 21 reviews so far.

I agree, let's fuck that cafe over. We can't detail a too elaborate thread on it, because the cafe owner can too easily link to it as proof and get everything removed, but we should hatch a plan to drip feed 2 and 3 star reviews on there over the next 2 months.
