That's true, another factor is the language barrier. It's not a factor in big cities but in the smaller ones it really can be. I was in Belchatow last month and even the younger people barely understood/spoke English. Personally I know enough Polish to get by but if you don't know any it will be difficult, i would definitely stick to cities at least 200k+.
