Feminist sets out to prove men men sexually harass women more by filming herself sexually harassing men

Quote:Quote:

A few weeks ago I was out with my housemate in Brixton, south London, when I saw a chair I liked outside an antique shop. The fabric reminded me of something my granny had in her old house. "What a lovely chair," I said to the shop's proprietor. "Thanks," he replied, "have you two ever made out with each other?" As we hastily tried to leave, he continued: "Perhaps tonight you'll start scissoring each other? Oh, come on, I'm only joking!"

As is usual when men make inappropriate sexual remarks to me, I felt embarrassed. This time, at least, there was a slight silver lining, as it was a perfect scenario to recreate for my film, in which I tested out real sexist situations on men. I took tweets from @EverdaySexism, where women (and men) recount sexist incidents and, using hidden cameras, acted these out on unsuspecting members of the public. Since launching the film on the Guardian website on Friday it has garnered more than a million hits and nearly three thousand comments.

Responses have been varied. Women have said that the film, which uses comedy to make a serious point, highlights perfectly the kind of harassment they receive on a daily basis. Many men have said that the words coming from the mouth of a woman made them realise their weight and impact. However, others felt the film was cruel, and that subjecting innocent men to sexually aggressive comments made me no better than the men who do that, thus completely undermining the feminist message.

At least many of the comments are positive. This just goes to show how feminism has never been about equality, even if it were a noble or accomplishable goal, but instead about power over men.

Before anything else is said;

Men trust male mechanics, carpenters and repairmen for purchases because they are more likely to use the inquired about tools or trades themselves. You trust someone who performs similar work to what you're trying to gather information on because that peer review has more of a foundation.

Right, because this is how store owners talks to potential customers. More likely some guy jokingly said this to her in a club. Or she saw it on TV. Or she just fucking made it up completely.

This feminist narrative that women are being sexually harassed every time they leave the house has no basis in reality. It's literally just something they've spun out of whole cloth. None of the women I've dated and none of my female family members have ever experienced anything like this. It's just complete and utter nonsense, just like the "campus rape epidemic" and "rape culture". These people are professional victims, so they just seek to increase the scale and scope of their victimhood as much as possible.

I reckon she made that story up entirely. Or she mashed together several stories - her visit to the store with her being hit on at a club.

I had to check: yup sure enough she's this weird looking feminist. I know a few in my social circle. I remember one night going out dancing with a big group, 2 guys and 7 girls. The ugliest feminist chick in the group was the one complaining the loudest afterwards about how she got hit on all night. Well we were there and saw it, nobody hit on her other than some very basic social interactions, and seriously no guy in that venue would be able to get a boner for her even after 10 beers! The other guy and I just had a WTF look on our faces, while the girls were all over it affirming her victimhood. You bet in her mind, she really got hit on all night...

"Hey guys I have a great idea, how about we rape innocent men to show them how bad it is to be raped!" *Everyone in her woman's studies class wildly claps*

Never happened. Clearly a made up story.

Feminists need to fucking realize that it's a very small percentage of men who are genuinely sexually harass women. Like how many men have you heard of in a developed country that have actually touched a random woman in public's ass or tits or commented on a woman's body in an inappropriate way? Not many. I've never seen that sort of behavior in real life, only in movies. Sexual harassment has been blown way out of proportion. You can't eve tell a woman "Nice top" without getting sensitivity training. fuck [Image: catlady.gif]

Nobody in the video felt violated or upset, they were just confused as to why a woman was acting like a man. Plus the fact that she had to use the dumbest lines you would never hear in real life (outside a frat film) to elicit a response, and she still couldn't rustle any jimmies. I'd say this experiment was a big fail.

As the wise Louis CK said "I'm a [white] man, you can't even hurt my feelings!"

What does "get your arse out." even mean?

The worst instance was the two older gents when she asked if they ever made out. No one says anything like that to old ladies. No one fucking cares about old ladies, but still no one outright disrespects them like that.

Do you think the women enjoyed it because it will tackle the problem of everyday sexism or just because they liked to see others humiliated?

The harassment is carefully chosen to not generate the desired result and the woman looks mentally ill.

If an attractive girl was going up to guys in the street and saying "show me your cock", I bet so many guys would say yes that it would make a mockery of the stats of the world's best daygamer.

You can't just reverse the genders and call it equal.

What a fool.

Everyone knows that the real way to sexually harass men is for a girl to be ugly or fat.

In this way, we are sexually harassed constantly.

It can lower the spirits to see hordes of fat girls in the same way that calling girls "bossy" can lower their spirits.

Also, they want to get harassed. The vindication of their own attractiveness is delicious and deeply self-affirming, regardless of their outward response. Plus...they love, love, love the attention and sympathy and sense of righteous victimhood they get when complaining about it after the fact.

Sexual harassment is sort of like the evil, oppressive 1950s in the feminist imagination. Both concepts are only tangentially connected with reality, have no basis in their own experience, but never-the-less have an intense, consuming emotional draw.

When it comes to sexual harassment and feminists, I suspect 90% of the time what's really going on is gross, ugly women desperately want male attention, don't get it, and then concoct this imaginary fantasy world where wicked (but masculine, sexy and aggressive) men objectify them wherever they go. In reality, though, men ignore them and the brash, unrepentant, panty-wetting manly-men they secretly dream of exist only in their masturbation-material romance novels.

Plus, when street harassment actually does take place, it's almost invariably a black, hispanic, or other "diverse" individual doing the fabled act. However, as any good cultural marxist knows, those folks are beyond criticism (white men must have made them do it somehow...), so it puts the leftist disciple into an uncomfortable ideological feedback loop.

That's the absurd, nonsensical idea at the heart of most contemporary feminism: we're all just generic people. Other than the unavoidably biological realities of the reproductive process, there are no specific or meaningful differences between men and women. You'd have to be mentally-deficient or have zero social experience to buy that, of course.

Are you implying this isn't true? In any U.S. urban center, white men are overwhelming SWPL/hipster/nerdy betas who'd rarely approach a woman respectfully, let alone in an aggressive, harassing sort of way. The only men you see hitting on women outside of clubs in a potentially harassing or just very direct manner are NOT white (or asian.) College-educated women are taught that publicly criticizing minorities is not socially acceptable. However, criticizing men is encouraging. So, its a conundrum....
