Not sure if anyone will find this interesting or if I'll get banned, but just came across this survey of 134 women from Reddit. I'm not entirely sure what constitutes the average type of woman that frequents Reddit and I don't see what the average age is for the survey.
- Average partners: 3.2
- Average height: 5' 5.4" (166 cm)
- on average the women dated someone 5.75" taller
- respondents dated someone shorter 7.5% of the time
- no woman below 5'6" reported dating a shorter partner
- regardless of respondent stature, average male partner height remained at 5'11"

I wouldn't say I'm shocked by these figures. In my own experience, even very short women want men to be considerably taller than they are.

Dudes routinely lie about their height.
I meet guys all the time who ask me how tall I am, and then they say they're 6'2, and I have a good 6 inches on them, and I'm 6'4 (without shoes).
Even without that knowledge, I don't believe these women on average are dating guys who are nearly 6'0.

You're right, I was looking at white men 20-39 years of age, for which the average is 5'10.5". The other races and age groups have different averages, but I think that fits the reddit demographic.

Three guys I know are all between 5ft8 and 5ft6 and are hugely successful with women, mainly because they don't have a complex about their height. Cocky, muscled, confident bastards all. This. I stand at 5'8 and I've had a few chicks thinking I was 6' the entire time. My guess is that they equate confidence, being "alpha," etc. with height so their ability to judge height is complete shit.

Solid 5'9 myself, but I've always thought this is sort of a "non-existent" height, and I think women on dating sites know this, at least the attractive ones.
A lot of 5'9 guys still have the "with shoes on" mentality, which makes can make them 5'10, or sometimes close to 5'11 if wearing boots. Keep in mind, every other guy in the club is wearing shoes too. The beach especially isn't friendly to short guys - no shoes on and you sink into the sand a bit.
Although 6'2 is considered the best height, I think 6' is the height when most aren't trying to claim an extra inch.

I get the girls rejection me for my height a fair bit, but it is always from the most attractive chicks. I treat their " your too short for me" response as a shit test and say things like " doesn't matter if we are lying down" or " God did not think I need height to be awesome" ....never works.
And this is Australia, plenty of tall men, so the girls make a big deal about height unless your famous.
Don't get me wrong, I believe I can get beautiful girls, but I just need ways of running their hamster more effectively if they bring up height.

One of the funniest cases of height myopia in girls I've encountered was a few years ago where this girl I know insisted that her new fiance was 5' 10.5". Just because she was quite tall herself for a girl, at 5'10". But any sane non-blind person could see he was about an inch shorter than her (Yes, even when wearing "flats"). It was clear that she actually believed him to be taller than her. It was comical.
I'm 5'7" and have dated girls taller than me. It's great. Some of the looks you get on the street are priceless. To be honest girls of any height consider it a "DHV" - for reasons that are kind of obvious. For the other short guys out there, you should try it out. Sticking only to girls shorter than you is a losers mentality.

Australians are fussy about height, but short men like us must not lose hope. I believe there is a way to mess with the mind of a woman to make her bypass the height thing, just have to find a solution. We are men, we must not complain, that is a woman's job, men find solutions...and I will find a way to banging out the vaginas of these heightist sexy Aussie chicks. Being 5'4 is tough, the ridicule from chicks is ..ridiculous, but I do the best I can to hold my frame and not let it get to me until I find a way. I mean dudes like Tom Cruise and Al Pacino can do it, so they must be doing something right.
To be fair, the American tourists that come here are much more kinder to me and never even bring up the height like the Aussies.
