Advantages guys born into the mafia have - karateka - 08-01-2013

I've been watching all these mafia documentaries on NatGeo channel this week. They basically slap everything that most guys have been taught and don't care what society/feminism/MTV thinks.

La Cosa Nostra doesn't seem to be as prominent as in the past, but I'm sure they are still a force.

A few things I thought of:

- constantly around alpha wiseguys, who are cool
- the "mafia" style, which is appealing to women
- the fact that women love bad boys, and basically being born into that
- all the movies about the mafioso mystique

It seems like at baseline, it can only make one a cooler guy. Thoughts?

Let's talk about the disadvantages.

1. Violent early death (likely)
2. Prison (more likely)

These are not disadvantages worth dealing with for the sake of chasing ass.

This aside from the fact that very few are born into such a life in the first place, and those who aren't can't ever be (thus nothing to be gained by analyzing it).

Conclusion: analyzing the supposed "advantages" of mafia life is not worth it for any man looking for romantic self-improvement.

Only preteen boys and those with preteen mentality care and look up to criminals. Sure, you should learn some personality traits from them as they will help you get girls (dominance, style), but the fact is you will fail hard and be laughed at or even killed if you try to act as mafioso.

I'm fascinated by organized crime, so I'll refrain from dissing you - but perhaps save these sorts of questions and threads for when you're a little more settled into the forum.

It was more of a "what if" discussion. I'm not saying anyone should try to join, which requires formal invitation. Seems like on the east coast so many Italian guys try to project that mafia lifestyle - even if they aren't affiliated to any organized crime (also lots of Eastern Europeans and Russians), and it only seemed like an interesting discussion.

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they think it's appealing to women. That was really it.

^ Women are attracted to power, and that comes in different forms. My mother would find John Gotti absolutely too scary, and she'd be too repulsed to be attracted to him. Whilst POSSIBLY, there may be some animal attraction because he's so powerful, her logic would replace it. However, she would be attracted to a top, learned academic, and be repulsed by some fresh out of university academic. The latter has power in HER world. A working class woman is much more likely to be attracted to some meat-head bodybuilde (at least in England) because that sort of person only exists in her world etc. Yes, the mafia is glorified, but the reality is a lot more grimy than one may think.

And as soon as they move from NY or NJ they become mobsters. Even if your grandfather was Italian and worked at famous Rays you're a mobster in Florida.

The truth is most Real mobsters kids are complete fuck-ups on the Italian end of things. The Jewish ones I know really make shit move and shake though. Badass.

One thing I've noticed though, not even being Italian myself, but appearing it, is that sometimes when people find out you aren't, they can almost be slightly disappointed.

Girl: Are you Italian?? (with big smile)
me: No, I get that a lot though
Girl: Oh, I was hoping you were (looks disappointed)

After that, they don't even care what you are. I've never had that happen with any of the dozens of other nationalities I've been mistaken for.

I would just play along then......especially if the girl is clearly into that and is smiling when she asks. Fuck it, give her her fantasy.

When I was barely in my twenties I would go to clubs sometimes and after approaching mid to late 20s women they would often say I look young and they don't date younger guys or something like that. I instantly became 26 or 27 and usually still got the bang.
